How would I go about doing the effect where it looks like a light gets shone across the title? Where each letter is illuminated quickly as the light sweeps across the whole word? I'm using After Effects 4.1 Production Bundle, so if I can't do it there, God help me. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.-Kavan |

Uh, I may not be of any use, but I need to do a similar thing in a month or so, and this is what i was planning on doing:You need a picture of your text with an alpha channel. You'd need the text all black, with the text cut out, and nothing behind it. Then you'd need a black picture with a bright white burst on it. You put the white burst pic under the text pic in after effects, slide the burst pic across, and there ya go. works in theory. |

well I am sure there are programs where you can just add that as a text effect. For example I have JSAC Paint Shop Pro, and in their animation studio you can add a text effect and it automatically puts that effect (I think I know what your talking about) in. It is like the Batman one, where there is text and the light comes from behind and shines through all of the letters. Its called backlight. It works really well. Anyway even if thats not the one you are looking for Im sure theres ways to do it pretty easy if you have the software; maybe theres free program on the web to do it. |
