It works ok for simple editing, bur be prepared to spend hours on the phone with tech support, because the software is really buggy. If you use the software just to capture, and another program to edit, then you'll be ok. I did that with MSP and dazzle for a while but the card got messed up, so I sent it back. I would advise getting a DC10+ or similar, dazzle just isn't worth the money. Hope this helps.

I am completely against this capture device, I have had problems with it and so did my friend. The output quality is unacceptable. However if you just want the video for internet videos and don't want to export, then it might be for you, but other than that just get a Studio DC10 or a Studio DV (they are pretty much the same price).

I really, really, really, really HATE Dazzle Multimedia!. I wish the company never existed. Their tech support is horrible and never answer phones. Two years, I got my first capture device, the original external parallel version and it NEVER worked! I called them & after waiting hours and constantly put on Hold. I returned it to the store (CompUSA) and got a replacement. Guess what, that one did not even work! Tech support is no help! Went back to CompUSA w/ a laptop and installed a 3rd Dazzle and it failed to operate! I finally got a refund, but I could only use it on CompUSA's marked up prices! I really needed this for some school projects and had to wind up using a VCR to edit
If you want to capture, Go Pinnacle!

I agree wholly with DSS. I have two friends each one with a different capture card, one a Dazzle, and the other a Pinnacle. The Dazzle works, but can only import at a MAXIMUM of 352 x 240, while the Pinnacle can do at up to 640 X 480. It might be more, but I know it can go up at least that high. Also, the software with the Dazzle is positively dismal, as some others here have commented on, while the Pinnacle card comes with the most user friendly and STABLE editing software I have seen in a hardware bundle. Not suprising when you know that Pinnacle is the maker of Commotion, the video editor (like AE) which was used in Phantom Menace. And, more importantly, the Pinnacle card was 99 bucks. I have used the Pinnacle card on my friend's computer to get base footage for effects test with Illison and other programs, and it is simply the better card. I cant stress enough the software that comes with it. Easy, very well rounded, capable of very good quality (Even approaching professional) results.

i beg to differ on this-for one there is a big difference in the internal and external dazzle(the internal card stinks)the external tower however (ive had for over a year)is much better.i have had no problems at all..
1.352x240 is incorrect.it can capture up to 1600x1200 or even your own custom settings-it also has templates per say which will capture your video for specific projects(such as vcds).also you can specify if you want the quality of the video to be from email attachments, vcd,tv,movie ect
2. ulead video studio (the most user friendly video editer out there-although the sound part is something to be desired),smart sound(make your own intro, credit, background music)and stock video footage...a bit far from dismal
3.i will agree that editing in dazzle is not as great as doing it in an outside program
4.ive output a few times and had no problems but that doesnt mean it wont ive only done it a few times
5.i think it also depends on your system, that may be why others had problems-but i will definitly agree there are better capture devices but ive been happy and dont plan to switch in the near future

Which card is that? I have been up and down the Dazzle web page, looking at cards, and saw nothing that captured at that resolution.

I checked the "Digital Video Creator", the "Digital Video Creator II", as well as some others, and didnt see anything about goin that high. the DVC II can do up to 640 X 480, but costs $300.00.

ALso, are you using a conventional video camera, or one of those newer high end digital camcorders?

I am going by what I have read in the statistics on the web pages, as well as the reviews I have read and evidence I have seen. If I am wrong, I will gladly stand corrected.

Dazzle sucks, a similar device thats decent is the adaptec VideoOH! (aka futuretel videosphynx) its cheap, its decent quality from a good souce, and the audio stays in sync (unlike the dazzle). It lets you cap in a number of different sizes and the software isnt bad. Unfortunatly Adaptec no longer supports it so its not sold normally, ya gotta check ebay. Well worth the price though. A great little device.

After all the discussion between DC10+ and the Dazzle I have finally bought an ATI All-in-Wonder Pro 16 MB AGP slot card. We use this in school and it works ok there, so i figured why not........ it is said to do
720x(don't remember the number) and that is higher than tv resolutions so it'll be fine.
Thanks for all the help though guys.
