My uncle is sending me the second latest version of premiere and I have to make my computer capable of running it. Currently I have 32 megs of RAM which I know has to go. Is 128 going to be enough? I believe a 4 meg video card just won't cut it either. I found a good deal on a 32 meg one though. I don't want to spend to much money as all these pieces will be going on the family computer and I plan on purchasing my own comp solely for video editing next winter. I'll only be editting like 10-30 second video (practicing computer special effects, rotoscoping) so I don't need anything to crazy right now. |

128 Mb or RAM is fine for simple editing. When you'll feel serious about it I suggest you get maybe 256. For good graphics 32Mb is perfect. I personnaly suggest you get a GeForce.Remember that you'll need a lot of space too. ------------------ Please check my site at JeeroomeVideo Productions |

sounds ok. CPU is also worth looking into, though not as important as RAM or hard drive space. i wouldn't go with anything less than a 300 MHz, with no less than 512 L2 cache. and definitely upgrade the video card. here's a thought... how about going all out on the computer you have right now, and when winter comes along, you buy a cheaper system for the family? that way you have a kick-all system now instead of waiting 'til winter. that's what i'd do; besides, i'm sure your family wouldn't mind writing reports or surfing the net with a 256 RAM system ------------------ Monkey Sea Entertainment - renovated as of January 2001 ------------------------- Moviemakers Portal (moviemaking-only search engine) |
