I want to reverse a videoclip. I've tried to use the "backwards filter" in Premiere but the result gets VERY jerky. Is there a way to fix this or maybe another method to accomplish this? I have Premiere and Aftereffects.

I don't use Premiere, but I have often heard of this problem. There should be an option that's called something like "render on fields". It will deffinetly have the word "fields" in it. Try that.

i'm not positive, but you may need to de-interlace the footage (which would combine the fields into one image).

Thanks guys! I'll try this as soon as I get home to my computer again.

But if I de-interlace it what will happen when I want to export it out to videotape again?

What de-interlace does depends on what program you use. It's one of those terms that is often misused.
Some programs will convert the fields into frames so that you end up with a clip that is twice as long.
Other programs will average the two fields together giving you one frame with a double image (if there is movement between the two fields).
Both methods reduce the resolution of the image making it a bit softer and sharp edges become more jaggie.
Whichever process Premiere does you should be fine when you go back out to video. De-interlace is a bit of a misnomer. Your video will still be interlaced, but both fields will contian the same image.
Anybody follow all that?
