Hey folks, Heres the opening scene to my current project "Focused Intensity". It includes my first attempt at rotoscoping and I think it came out very effective. Visit this mini site for the download link: http://members.nbci.com/vproduction/focused.html The file is big-24 MB-so if you've got a slow modem...sorry. IF you have DSL or the like please take a look because I really think you'll enjoy this thing. -Stuart |

not bad at all VP. that's a huge file size for something that is only a minute and a half long. some of the stuff with the ball looked great. my beef: excessive swearing. it didn't really add to it at all... actually, i thought it really took away to what was going on. when the guy was dodging the thing around in his house, that was alright, but the bleach-haired guy repeating his one line over? didn't really turn my crank, but that's just me.
what'dya use for the blood? cool stuff.

Haha, Sorry about the swearing. Its hard enough getting my friends to stay focused on anything at all, let alone reasonable dialogue. Still-I think if something like this really happened those would be the only reasonable words avaialble.I used an XL-1. -Stuart |

First off, that was good. The guy who got killed, that was sweet. One thing, why was the music loud when the truck pulled up but when the truck was dirving away, there was no music? The guy saw his friend die so he turned down the stereo? As for the swearing, I've never been on to criticize someone for foul language. However, next time, you should give a some warning. All things considered, good job, was entertaining and would watch the entire movie if it was posted. |

I really like what I've seen so far (for some reason, I only got the first 9MBs). I really like how the ball interacts with the surroundings (can, doors) and the actor. Really cool motion on it.More when I manage to download the whole thing... |

Ok, I got the whole file this time.It rocks. Sure, the ball of energy is a little too simplistic (and if I was a nitpicker I'd say there should be some reddish reflections on the walls as it passed). But really, the ball's motion was very well done. Very good angles, and cutting. You've got good timing. I don't mind the swearing; I think it works here. BTW: I love the titles. How did you make them? I'd have to say this goes in the top5 Likeastory movies. No, the top3. Maybe number one actually; I don't know. Good work. When do we get to see the rest? |

First to admiral, Thanks for the compliments. Its funny that you mention reflections of the ball because Im going in after the shooting is done and adding that. Also, in the very opening sequence, the ball passes by a mirror but GASP no ball reflection! I used a combination of the "stretch in" transistion in premiere from black to the title (composited multiple times) for the title sequence. To DSS, A pesticide sprayer rigged under nicks clothing with a tube filled with corn syrup blood was pumped up MANY MANY times by my good wrestling friend, Mick, and taped under nicks shirt. A small pea sized cut was made in the shirt (in amongst the lettering, so its virtually impossible to spot) with the tube pointing out. Once action was called, he turned around on cue and MIck letter' rip. The camera was far away, and good thing too, cuz the blood shot all over the place. -Stuart |
