Okay, maybe that's a big statement, but the odds are good! So, heck, download this small clip (under 1000 K) and bust a gut.
www.geocities.com/avarice_the_movie/Ball.mov

As usual with GeoCities, remove the "http://" from the URL once you clicked the link.

Enjoy! If it won't work for you, post and I'll se what I can do.

Oh, in case you were wondering, YES it was an effect. And it's part of a whole movie. (This is a flashback)

This was an effect?

Hell, if I did it I would have just told the fool that "pain is temporary, film is forever" and thrown it.

heh heh. Well, here's what I shot:
1. Myself (yeah, that's me in there) turning and throwing my head back and falling out of the frame.
2. Myself blocking a basketball thrown at the general vacinity of my head.
Numerous takes were done of both of these. In premiere I foung the best two that lined up well, synced them up chronologically, and exported each as a filmstrip. In Photoshop I put the blocking one over the other one and erased evrything that wasn't the basketball, leaving the ball over the footage of me pretending to get hit. Because I never moved the camera when shooting, I don't have to erase very near the ball because the background didn't change. Of course, i did have to do a nicer job on the frames where it overlapped with my head.

lol vp!!

i think it was, if it was an effect, it was pretty good.

if you play it frame by frame, you do see it hit his forhead.

The most successful special effect is often the one that doesn't look like one. Good job: you found a way to perform a mildly dangerous stunt safely.

Hilarious. The best way to watch it is frame by frame in reverse. Just try it.... that clip's a modern classic

Cool. This particular shot was filmed at the basketball court at Rosemary Elementary School. Kind of cool: A few days after I shot it the court got totally tore up. I think the're demolishing it to put in something else. Lucky me.

Very good!!!

Guys try this, its even funnier if you speed it up, especial the part where the ball hits him and he yells like a chipmunk!

Oh my gawd, that's the funniest shiznat ever! I literally laughed out loud (not even joking!) I've watched it about 20 times and it keeps getting funnier! The thump is the best part of it, not to mention the background music fits it perfectly! Put some more funny stuff up please!!!!!

Thanks, but this is the best part of the whole film, in my opinion. I think anything else would just be a let-down. No, most of the other funny parts are too long for compressed online viewing purposes. Don't worry about it.
