Download the clips here: http://members.fortunecity.com/pghfilms/download.htm These clips have been up for awhile and despite getting almost 500 hits on the site, no one has so far sent an e-mail to me commenting on then. I'd really like some feedback about these clips. They are compressed using DivX and are sort of big so please be patient. Send e-mail feedback to: pittsburgh_films@hotmail.com |

heh, I recognize the crappy Korean version of the MP5K in your clips. MP5Ks are only used by paratroopers and dudes in helicopers. Stick to the M16s. How did you do those spark flashes?------------------ -DSS- Director, Producer, Editor, and Actor of Counter-Strike: The Movie |

The spark flashes were done using very cheap firecrackers that were strategically placed. The shots will also be enhanced in post to make the muzzle flashes better because some are too far from the gun. As for the cheap-ass MP5-A4, yeah it sucks but it's just temporary because that guy loses his gun anyway. Also, these are supposed to be Army Rangers so they don't all use standard weapons like the M-16. The one guy has an M4, which I would've given to all of them except it was too expensive. |

I found your clipsp very enjoyable. Your choice of angles and cuts were good (esp. I liked the close up on the swtich in clip 1, and the POV from behind the machine gun in clip 3 part 1)
The only things I didn't care for was most noteably the graphiti on the wall in clip 3 part 1. It kinda blew the atmosphere a little. It probably would have been good to paint over it or smudge it in photoshop in post. Also in general I found your cinematography to be top notch, but clip 2 part 1 it didnt feel like there was enough action. It may have been a better decision to move the camera along with the subjects. (run after them with it, run next to them, something). Something about leaving the camera still while the characters run up to it didn't feel right. Just my two cents. Keep up the excellent work -nick |

The more standard MP5 A5/A4/SD5/SD6 are used much more (SWAT, Army, Navy, Etc..) than the compact MP5K (Paratroopers, Merceneries, heh)------------------ -DSS- Director, Producer, Editor, and Actor of Counter-Strike: The Movie |

I'm downloading the clips now, but from the pictures I am seeing, where did you film these at? I really like the vegetation around the area. I'll let you know how I like your clips after... |

You're right about the guns. Special forces wouldn't normally use the compact model because it would be hard to control without a stock. However, I didn't have the luxury of assembling all the guns at once in terms of realism. Most were purchased on E-bay whenever the price was low enough for us and half of them were obtained before I even wrote the script. Midway through filming we found a better MP5-K that we had lost in a closet but the continuity wouldn't match up so we could only use it for enemies, not the main character. |

Those scenes were shot in a wooded area about an hour from a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. We found the ruins because my Aunt is an avid hiker and knew where all the cool stuff was. The only problem, as someone said before, was graffiti on the walls. I'm going to try to get rid of that in post. The major battle scenes (most of which have yet to be filmed because we ran out of warm weather) were filmed at a huge tract of hunting land that one of cast member's parents owns in Indiana County, PA. |
