After almost five months since filming wrapped, I've finally pieced together a short trailer for my new movie, 'Urban Nightmare'. It's 9.7mb and is 320x240 Quicktime, tell me what you think, and if you have any suggestions fire away http://www.urbannightmare.com/quicktime/urbannightmare.mov ------------------ You are nothing! i'm on a computer with no speakers right now, so i couldn't hear anything, but judging from the video, it looks awesome! the editing was very tight, very trailer-style. it piqued my interest in seeing the whole thing, and i don't even know the plot yet! once i get sound, i'll post some suggestions (if i have any).by the way, how did you get access to an empty shopping mall? pretty slick. okay, i'm on a different computer now and i have sound....interesting. the main actor looks good but needs to stop smiling during tense scenes. balance out the audio. watching the video silently it looks great, but the audio needs to match it. the music sounded cool, but i think you need more interruption and need to tell a little more about the story. i didn't hear all that was said the first time watching it, and people should be able to know exactly what the movie is about the first time, while it's happening. maybe add a couple of the sub-plots into the trailer (relationships between characters, details about how they track him, etc.) build up the intensity so when "the chase is on" the audience feels the pressure. make it more climactic so they feel like they need to see the rest and want to know what happens. anyway, that's just MO. the video editing is great, just the sound and progression of the trailer needs improving i think. then it would be awesome! |

Cool man, looks better than most of the stuff here. Looks like you got a fairly intriguing story, I'd be interested in seeing it when it's complete.------------------ I don't know. Part of me thinks the kid's right. He asks what he's done to deserve this. He wants to stay here, fine. Let's leave him and go home. But then another part of me thinks, what if by some miracle we stay, then actually make it out of here. Someday we might look back on this and decide that saving Private Ryan was the one decent thing we were able to pull out of this whole godawful mess. Like you said, Captain, maybe we do that, we all earn the right to go home. -Sergeant Horvath, Saving Private Ryan |

I think it looks very professional. Good editing. I think a little more suspense could build up to "the chase is on" part as well, but over all a great trailer. It looked like I saw a scene using a camera jib/crane, do you have one? |

Thanks for all the input. No crane or anything, which shot was it that you were thinking of?There was one of a train pulling up to the station shot from above the train, but that was done from a Plus 15 (skybridge, or whatever it's called in the USA), but it's a pretty cool effect ------------------ You are nothing! Whoa, that was REALLY impressive. Great sense of suspense and technique (the quick flashes of different scenes was very effective). Many of the shots looked really professional. Great use of music, too.Although it did look like the actor was having a little trouble staying serious ("I've uncovered a plot to blow up the Petrol-Canada building", and all the time he looks like he's trying to stop from giggleing). But that's just a very minor thing in a really great trailer. |

May be the closest thing to a professional trailer I've seen on Likeastory yet. Oustanding job on the editing. I think we tend to notice the flaws in the acting and audio a little more due to the high quality of everything else. Overall, I think DigiteyeZ's comments pretty much sum it up. |

my two cents! millenia, good job. i give it a thumbs up for sure. there were a few real nice shots, good cinematography . i loved the music. if you hadn't had that music, i don't think it would have been half as good. i gotta admit, the adult's who were acting...that wasn't very good. but hey, i won't say anymore, i can't find two actors in my town. (thank god for action figures.) good show. |

Heheheh, thanks. The acting is likely the weakest link in the entire movie. It was mid summer before we got word back from the government that we had received the grant we applied for months earlier for an entirely different movie (a supernatural horror/action titled Shadows of the Night), and I just cast the first three people I thought of in the lead roles. Alex Kenny, who played the main character, was actually a far better actor than I had thought, but the other characters, especially the adults, weren't. BTW, someone (HBK?) asked if the adults were my parents. My mom was in it, yeah, but the other five were mostly just friends of my moms. Pretty bad acting on the whole...------------------ You are nothing! If you were in my toilet I wouldn't bother flushing it. I actually thought the adults didnt do that bad as far as acting goes. Thats just my impression from the trailer, however. All that matters for acting, is to make the part believable. I love the "They're here, I know it" line in the trailer. Its haunting for some reason. ------------------ Check out my sample music site *updated 12.22.00 |

Ummm.... we didn't exactly get permission to use those locations, well, most of them anyways. I assume you're referring to the twin towers (Petro Canada Center), where the line "It's about the kid... he's over at security" is said. The scene was two and a half minutes long, and we were in and out in two hours. It was the longest we were at any location we couldn't use and not get caught. There was another building, Bankers Hall, that is seen in a couple of shots later in the trailer (running down some escalators and out of the building), that we actually had permission to use, and still got in trouble. We contacted someone at security there months earlier, set up a date for when we could use it, and went in. About halfway through the shooting, a security guard came up to us and told us to get the hell out of there... apparently our contact had neglected to inform the guards that we were allowed to be in there.Everything was ironed out eventually, but it wasn't a very good experience. ------------------ You are nothing! Actually we filmed at a couple of malls, both downtown. The one everyone was referring to was Eau Claire Market, and the other one was the mall at Bankers Hall (first four floors of both towers).------------------ You are nothing!
