I just got my capture card working, and premiere as well. this thing sucks I know, but I just wanted to show something to you guys of the first things I did. It's hugely uncompressed quicktime files. http://www.fastlou.com/matt
then click on the links. If anyone actually watches this I'll be unbelievably surprised, but since it is the first thing I have ever captured and edited I thought I'd post it.

You need to do some tweaking on the first one. When the guy approaches the log, he is closer to it on the next shot then he is on the beginning of the slow-motion shot. Just trim the start of the slow motion shot to where his feet are right next to the log. Then it will look good.

I get a 404 error on the second one

Premiere is an awesome program, you just have to get used to it.

edited- Or were you saying that the clip stunk, not Premiere..?

I think it's pretty good for your first (or near first) try!

Mr. Hutt how can you say this!?......Premiere is possibly one of the worst programs i've ever used (version 5.0). Version 4.2 was far superior to 5.0....5.0 crashes if i set the seconds to 1; when i set it to 4 it doesn't......but MSP isn't that much better....

i just got Premiere 6 and i love it, haven't gotten to do a whole lot on it yet but i will...

ditto on Sarge's post, also, after he's over the log, the next shot he's behind it again. just a matter of trimming.
