I am currently producing an X-men theme movie entitled "X2" This film will combine CG effects, using similar software used in the original movie, with Sony DV footage in donated studio's bluescreen room. The main characters include Gambit, Rogue, and the CG Sentinel Army. This week we'll be displaying the movie posters, character descriptions, and individual trailers so keep an eye out for updates, if you are interested? I would greatly appreciate any comments or questions.

How far into production are you?

I am eagerly awaiting more information on your web page.

There are several parts in answer to your question. We are filming this friday and saturday at Guajome Park Academy. Today I talked to the heads of GPA, a school here in sunny SD,CA who are gratiously donating the use of their "blueroom" as the called it, to film our production. One of my friends will be shooting on a Sony DVcam.

For the costumes, two of my friends put together some costume designs that I gave them for Gambit and Rouge's wardrobe. I tried to combine the comic characters apperance with the movie style as much as possible. We think you'll like this. Hope so at least. : )

As far as the special effectos, which is my department, we have several sequences that can only be done through editing the film which will happen in the weeks ahead. The Sentinels, which have taken a long time to plan, model, render, and sequence is finally finished.

Many of the special fx will include gambit trademarked playing cards, red eyes, staff, and energy absorbtion/transfer. We are still debating as to what Rogue will do, if any (suggestions would be helpful). The sentinels are all fx such as the eye and hand lasers, heat waves, and exhaust from their boots. Rain and clouds will also be used as effects. If anyone is interested in the software used, let me know.

I am updating the site bellow with the "teaser" posters, which should be avaliabe by the end of the day. This will be the temp host until I get a domain for it. We are working on a "behind the scenes of X2" on our site for an explaination of the modeling and fx used if anyone is interested in how they'll be done.

If anyone is interested in how the Sentinels were created, I modeled the Sentinels after several differnt designs from Uncanny X-men, Age of Apoc, and Ultimate X-men. If you are a member of epost on "x-men 2 movie", the rendered Sentinel picture has been displayed for about two months. I will post the wireframe blueprints and rendered model today on LAS.

what software are you using for this?

Wow. This is a pretty broad question. It should have been rephrased to “what software are you using for” and then the purpose. : ) I’ll try to give the basic applications we use without boring you. As far as the modeling goes, we use a program called Rhinoceros 3D most often, but we also use 3D Studio Max, Bryce, Lightwave 3D, Softimage|3D, and recently Maya. Rhino, in my opinion, gives a nice control over NURBS for organic as well as solid modeling. We modeled our entire Sentinel, from our original drawn-out blueprint, in Rhinoceros 3D. We then used Bryce and 3D Studio to do some paths and some rendering. We also did the card scene in Bryce with the path that was really easy. Bryce was in fact the first program that I ever learned way back in high school, and is still very useful. For editing the frame-by-frame images, we use a combination of Photoshop and Paint Shop (yes, I do like some things in PSPro) and also for the matte, layers, and other alterations. This is where we’d alter Gambit's eyes, and the card absorption, thunder, etc. For video, sound, and effects compiling, we use Premier, After Effects, and EditDV from our Sony DV cam. For out parts of our trailer and text we used Flash and imported our graphics directly onto the stage. I hope that gives a brief impression of what we use, but please feel free to ask any question. If any of you have specific questions about our production, please sign up for our FREE “Director’s” Newsletter for direct communication.

Rhinoceros 3D is a very useful tool. When I first started using it, I create Lego characters and objects and actually made a Lego Movie. I think that one people take a look at what its features are, their potential is infinate. I do however wish that Rhino will include an animation package, but thats why we use the software packages mentioned above. Each has their flaws, each has their strong points, but each combine to make the final product the success that we want it to be.

Please let us know what you think. The logo to "X2" will fly in, starting from center screen, and become the "II" scene on our teaser. As always, we welcome any comments or suggestions.

Our group responces that we can give right now is please be patient. Lots of things have been going on. Our intro film shoot, which requires lots of action sequences in a park and this past week and weekend, San Diego has been hit with major rain storms. In fact, our property has three lakes. : ) But, we should be posting the images sometime soon. By the way, your site looks nice and good luck with your project. We just wonder where you got the XII from? : ) If you need any help with logo designs, just let us know. Director Ash, also the fx man, is helping "Forever X" with theirs. Anyway, you all will love the trailer when it is complete. And as always, if you ever have any ideas you want developed, please let us know. Thanks for your patience.

I am sorry to dissapoint all of you, but we will no longer be able to continue the production of "X2" due to my own heavy college schedule and my other associates schedules. We thank everyone for their ideas in putting into "X2". Thanks.
