Having read the available stuff in the archives on the production of sugar glass, I've still got some questions... I can produce clear sheets (approx 30cm by 15cm) with a thickness of about 8mm, but they still feel tacky, can I make them more glassy and less sticky? And is moulding easier than crafting with this material, since I want a thickness of about 4mm, ideally less for safe usage. Any suggestions greatly appreciated... |

If you keep it out of the sun and leave it in a dry place, it shouldn't be sticky. if you need it to be thin glass, just try to add less of the mixture to the mold, although it won't be as solid, so you should make a frame to support it. remember that no suger glass is 100% safe, but you've got a good chance of making it safe if you are careful. hope it helps. |

Thanks for the advice. I think my mix may be at fault, as even a night in the refrigerator, with a bag of desicant has left it tacky. I'll add a touch more salt since that seemed to make the difference last time. Concerning safty, I'm restricting the use to one or two cast members who have pior experience with similar effects. |

Hey Magic, What you have is essentially a piece of hard candy, so yes, it will be a little tacky. But you should kep it out of the heat or sun and use it as soon after you make it as possible.
