I was flipping through the ad pages of Photo Graphic magazine, and I came across a company called A&M Photo World. Check out these prices:

Canon GL1: $1799
Canon XL1: $3149
JVC GY-DV500: $3979

They have a web address (www.amphotoworld.com), but the site is not up yet. I'm planning to buy a Nikon N80 from them, so I'll report back on how the transaction goes.

Another company with comparable prices was Broadway Photo (www.bwayphoto.com) :

GL1: $1829
XL1: $3279
GY-DV500: $3999

You get Photo Graphic too?! Or did you say you were just thumbing through... You into photography?

Thanks for the heads up on the site. I usually skip all those damn adds, but I'll definately check out the site. Thanks!

Oh, I guess they haven't made the site yet.

Yeah, I am into photography, I took Art 107 - Intro to Photography last semester.

I only bought Photo Graphic to look through the "damn ads" 'cause I want to buy a new camera. The one I have now is a 20-year old Pentax, it works great dispite the fact its been heavily used and has never been serviced, but autofocus and a motor drive are just too tempting.

I have an older Yashica TL-Electro that I grabbed for $14 at a thrift store.
Most people are paying $100+ for the exact same thing. Just recently I got a real nice 28mm wide angle lens. It's a swell gadget!

I pitty the fool who thinks he can get a camera for that cheap. Ask them if they have it in stock, of course they will say yes. Then ask when they can ship it. Now a week after it was suppose to be shipped, you will call to ask why the camera hasnt come. They will tell you its on back order. Trust me I have been down that road before. Take it from me Mr. D. Grrrrr.

I am also in search of a new camera. I'm thinkin along the lines of the Nikon F100 (muy expensive!!) or F80. My current camera is a Minolta x370s. While I was at BigBear these past 3 days, my frickin 28mm wide angle started screwing up, so I had to resort to my 50mm, extension tubes, and fisheye lenses. But enough about me...

Alright, I took the risk and bought my camera. I paid by credit card, and three days later I got it in the mail. Not a single hitch.
