I need to make a hooded robe for a movie I am filming, does anyone know where I can get a pattern or design to copy.

I'm looking for something like a larger version of what those little red guys with the glowing eyes in star wars wear.

pretty sure i have some links on my "movies BTS page" if not just search for any of the following medieval, cloaks, costumes, patterns, or any combination of them. They are lots of sites out there that either sell the pattern or the actual robe.

also hit the local fabric store and look through the patterns, especially the halloween stuff.

if you just want to buy or rent one go to a costume shop

Check out pattern Simplicity 7438 (it is for woman's hooded cape) but with a little modification it will give you exactly what you need. If you want it really detailed that is. I have no idea how to sew and I was able to put this together in two days.

also....keep in mind this...if you just want a simple cloak.

spread out the material so that it is in a long rectangle twice as long as you'll need it to be and as wide as the actor with their arms stretched out (as if they were crucified). Fold the fabric in half length wise.....cut a hole for the neck....sew up the side but leave space for the arms and you have a huge poncho....cut up the middle...there's your cloak....add hood later....very easy. (I did it with a needle and thread and some scissors in two hours)

Diagram follows:

also...check out www.ravensmoon.com (good and cheap).

Hope that helps.

pick up a kids costume of a robe with hood. the 5.99 type. use this for a pattern by increasing the measurements. the costume is basically a cylinder for the body, 2 cylinders for the arms, and a triangle for the hood.

see if there is any SCA/LARP/ or medieval reanactor groups. the can be found on the web
