I have heard a lot on about glidecams and steadycams on this board. Since a lot of peoble build one on their own, i am wondering if somebody build one, that you can use less than 30 cm over the ground. I once saw that in a "making-of" book. Would be interesting if someone came up with something that works.

Hmmm... Ill I can think of is to hold the entire steadicam (or glidecam, or modified tripod), upside-down and then somehow flipping the video right side up in post.

if you head over to the "skycrane" page they have a thing that allows you to have the camera as close to the ground as you dare. the thing looks so simple to make too.

if you tried i'm sure there would be a way to work it into a steadycam setup, it'd just take some trial and error

there are links on my "movies BTS" page under cranes i think

Believe it or not, I've strapped a camera to the top of a remote control car and raced it around the inside of a building. The footage was incredible!!

check this out: http://www.likeastory.com/noncgi/Forum13/HTML/000701.html it's an old post. if you follow the link to that site, it shows how their device can mount the camera on the bottom for exactly what you want. i don't know how good it is, but it's something to look into.

here's a direct link to the page about the Low Mode: http://www.scootx.freeserve.co.uk/low.htm
