I take it to mean you want to collaborate with a screenwriter, digital effects artist, and sound technician (or do want a composer and/or sound effects artist?)Those interested can email Cheapvideoguy by clicking on the little mail icon ( ) at the top of his post. Best Wishes on the project!

I still dont have a computer, so its just a matter of whenever i can borrow someone elses. CHEAPVIDEOGUY - If you are talking about doing things via telephone, email, or otherwise, I will be GLAD to help you out. I would emial YOU, but at the computer I am at, I cant do that right now. If I dont hear from you, when I get to a different computer, i will email you. Hey man, I got your email. I was a little confused by it, but i think i am clear on what you were saying. If i got you correctly, what were you saying is that you are willing to have us help you via EMAIL. You do NOT want to do anything by phone, as that costs too much. That is understandable. Now as to your last comment, that perhaps this was a bad idea, because you werent planning to pay people, dont be so quick to judge. Some of us here wouldnt mind making a few extra dollars here and there, but you will also find alot of people for whom the thought of merely getting CREDIT, and EXPERIENCE (and a copy of the finished movie), is motivation enough. I am one of those people. I would be GLAD to help you out, with anything you need, just email me with what you need whenever you need. As I mentioned earlier, I can help you: Design special effects/ design makeup effects / design sets and or props / write the script / edit the script / propose financing methods / sound fx / create concept art or mattes / and so much more. Just let me know what you need, and I will see what I can do. ------------------ "May the Force be with you." Hey dude, your name fits you just fine Just kidding.. Why don't you give a breakdown of what you have to work with like:media format (video/film..) Budget Script synopsis Who's in it What effects What props Is this just for fun That kind of stuff. Many people might help you but you need to throw out some details.. I think that some telephone contact is important otherwise people won't feel that they are helping a real person. They might say that they will send something to you but the truth is that you have to offer some kind of motivation even if it's as simple as a short phone conversation.. Everyone on the net is masked by a screen name so go the extra mile and let people know who you are. That's my opinion and I speak for no one else... |

You will be able to find people to pitch in their services for free or for the cost of supplies (in the case of making props & make up FX), but they have to be excited about the project, and they usually want to know that they are working on something with a script that gives them confidence that the project is worthwhile. As noted above, they also need to know that the head of the project (producer/director) has a serious plan and has some idea of what he or she is doing.First off you are going to need a good script. Few people are going to commit without becoming excited about seeing a good script that is to become a movie. MovieMan 21 is a rare individual! This is absolute ground zero, not the story idea or simply the desire to make a great movie. (Second, budget the thing out, regardless if it is $100 or $100,000 and put together a schedule - a list of who & what you'll need when.) You can have all the best intentions in the world, but a great movie simply doesn't happen with a bad or incomplete script, it is the foundation of everything else. Without the script, how can you decide on the preproduction work without potentially causing a lot of waste? I can't count the times that scripts have gone in radically new directions because we've had to fix problems with the pacing, plot, motivation, projected budget, availability of locations, etc. Also, we've all seen the superb talents of actors and FX artists wasted on movies that had awful scripts, although many of these were ruined by legions of studio "suits" tinkering with the scripts only to justify their salaries or make them more commercial. Be thankful you don't have that factor to worry about! Job one - get the script together. Rewrite it and get something solid together. It doesn't have to be an actual shooting script, but it should be in good shape and close to what's going to end up on screen. No point in getting people excited and having them twiddling their thumbs waiting for a script to come together or doing work that has to be discarded as the script changes. One of my friends makes a good living as a storyboard artist in Hollyweird in part because many features change scripts, action sequences, etc, and he has to redraw boards, sometimes in the midst of shooting. He doesn't mind because he's on the clock, racking up serious dough every time a director wants to change a sequence or a star throws a fit and wants something done differently or whatever. People working for free aren't going to to be happy if they've spent months creating a digital effect of a 3D Space Armada closing in on Earth only to be told by you, "Sorry, we cut the alien sub plot out - the script was too long and the alien thing wasn't working so we cut it and wrote in a meteor storm striking Earth instead." Think of the script as a map to adventure, if you will. Draw your map, then recruit people to go on an adventure following it where it leads. People will join you on your adventure, but they have to feel that it is something they are interested in and has a chance of going somewhere exciting instead of fizzing out halfway into production. ------------------ Jeff F - Moderator Magic and FX Amazing the Masses [This message has been edited by Jeff F (edited 01-30-2001).] |

CHEAPVIDEOGUY - Jeff is absolutely right. You DO need to have the script down, basically before ou consider anything else. You had stated that you wanted me to do sound fx, and a small script. By that did you mean that you wanted me to write you the script, or to edit it. If you want me to help you write it, then post or email a list of the characters and their descriptions, and the basic story line. ------------------ "May the Force be with you." Well first off loyal people!I dont need a budget already have everything! This is a stop motion movie with legos and those little army men. Well anyways, your basic plot is (4 lego people) three men, and one woman is on uncharted terrain (My computer room {Which is big to them}), And get ambushed by green men (army guys). The get brought to a big box and are questioned by the army men, and a night they escape and then a big war happens and can't tell you the end.

CHEAPVIDEOGUY - One thing you must have as a filmmaker, is patience. Yes, I will help you, but you cant be jumping down my throat if I dont reply right away. I am not sure if you are aware of this o it, but my computer is gone. Without it, it ias hard for me to check my posts all the time. I just have to hope that I can get to a computer, like the one I am using at the moment, and get online. That is not always possible. I will respond as soon as i can.As far as the voice work, just email the script when its done, and tell me what parts you need done. I will be glad to help. While we are on the subject of voivework, MULTIMEDIA LIGHT AND MAGIC, if you read this, please email me. I still have your voicework. I can now send it to you, but I need to know if you still need it. A friend is willing to let me use his computer to send you the audio, which I have recorded professionally for you. ------------------ "May the Force be with you."
