For anyone who owns an xl1, hows the built in mic, does it give a lot of backround noise, or is it good. I am getting a better mic, but im just curious if its a good clear sound.

THANKS!!

The mic's not bad, especially if you're using a windscreen outside. Obviously, using a shotgun on a boom or a lavalire (sp?) mic are preferred for certain situations, but the supplied mic is decent if you're not that concerned on audio quality.

If you're really concerned on audio, then you should probably think of hooking up some kind of external one, since anything on camera (lights, mic, etc.) aren't as effective as "external" ones that you are free to manipulate.

That mic works well for me only indoors and very tight. For an interview or something like that. I use my shotgun for everything else.
