Jeremy,

Just a real quick thought - have you tried CLOWN supply companies? You may find a lot of "foam" items that will work for you in that profession. So a search on that topic and see what you can find.

Good luck!!!

once again, i'm going to tell you guys (not just you but everyone) this. Go buy Thurstons James' book, or get it at the library and look through it, it answers most prop questions.

uh, sorry about that baseball bat post, but the link goes for the 2x4 as well, its pretty easy to do yourself, and all the techniques you need are in the book.

. Go buy Thurstons James' book, or get it at the library and look through it, it answers most prop questions, or at least gives you ideas on how to do it. he's also got a book for theater props wich was pretty good too.

Balsa wood is mad light, almost as light as styrofoam. If you put some varnish on it it'll look like any kind of wood. It's a bit hard to find and is a bit pricey.

Also try attaching some good looking textured paneling, linoleum, shelf or wall paper to something plastic or styrofoam.

Seems to me if I had a choice of being hit with a real wood 2x4 or a solid rubber 2x4, I would only slightly prefer the rubber one(if I would be getting hit with the edge, otherwise I would probably opt for the real wood) Maybe Im thinking of the wrong kind or rubber here, but Ive been hit with a 2x4 and a solid peice or rubber before, and they both hurt! Is this a special light kind of rubber or something?
