How could I have a guy get thrown into a freezer (futuristic) and get frozen solid in 5 to ten seconds and show it?

i'm assuming you have a freezer large enough to put a person in. do you need to pull the frozen person out, or are you leaving him in the freezer? if hes staying in there, i'd say throw him in, close the door, pause the camera, pull him out, use some makeup so he looks frozen (that'll have to go on the makeup board) get a sheet of plexi-glass and make it look like a block of ice, put him back in the freezer how he was put the plexiglass in after him, then start recording again open the freezer, and voila he look like he froze in no time at all

one thing you could try is a shot looking in to a window of the freezer. Then use a fog machine/smokebomb behind the door & spray some of that "snow" in a can you see at christmas time to spray on the inside of the window and on the victim.

or you could fire a fire extinguisher at the window. Does that make sense? "Fire" a fire extinguisher.

for when it shows the person frozen solid, i have a good method...just show him shaking and acting like he was freezing...then in after fx you could take the clip in ..then place that same clip as another layer, right on top of the other...then on the second layer create a mask around the person...then fool around with the colors(which can also be done in ae) so it makes the person look like they're deep blue....it actually turns out pretty sweet..

You could try the "Han Solo" effect, position the camera towards the window and fire a fog machine off in the back of the "freezer" The fog will shoot up over the victim. Stop filming. Now, turn off the fog machine. Make up your actor to be frozen (check out the make-up effects forum). Film again. As the smoke subsides, it will reveal the frozen actor. Much like Han Solo in "The Empire Strikes Back". Good Luck!

You can do it in one shot, when you throw your guy into the freezer and are watching him (I assume he's framed from waist up and a bit above his head.) Have some helping hands from below and above spray fake snow down, add a bunch of steam behind him, (Fire extinguisher, powerwasher with a fan spray attachment.) And of course, the glass you are viewing in should fog over just as quickly. Heat from a steam washer can do that, with fake snow blowing around, it could be mistaken for cold. Also, give the guy who get's thrown in a bonus. He's a brave one. Good luck....
