Topic: What are the Best Software for Computer FX?

My uncle is comming from overseas and he asked what software I would like to get.I already have Premiere, AfterFX, Truespace2 which have been sufficient. I am thinking of asking for more than one software. Some of them being:
Ultimatte
3D studio Max (latest ver)
Photoshop (latest ver)
Poser
Qbase What else kick ass programs would you recommend? |

The best FX/ edditing program is AdobePremiere5.0 this is the best program available. |

Yes, Photoshop is a great one. So is Premiere 5.1. 3D Studio MAX R3.0 is also really awsome (I still need to buy myself a copy). I reccoment Discreet Logic's Effect* for video compositing of special effects. |

Yeah I agree with andy!effect* is a very highend compositing software and it's not too expensive! But you asked for the best software...
Hmm what about smoke* (350000 DM) [but it comes with a workstation]
Digital fusion is a great program too (5200 DM) [1 DM= 1.89$] ...But i would recomment effect 2.1. Think it's about amm.. 600 $
..including a MOTION TRACKER!!!!! and the tracker works absolutely good! so what do need more...
