Well, from a technical standpoint, most automatic weapons have a rate of fire of about 600 rounds per minute. Divide 600 by 60 seconds and you get 10 shots per second, so put a flare on every third frame and you should be cool. For a semiautomatic handgun, probably every 7th to 10th frame is more realistic for quick shots, depending on the weapon. (You can shoot a 9mm Beretta a lock quicker than a .44 magnum - with any accuracy, anyway.)------------------ Doug Spice Mojumbo Jambalaya Productions Los Angeles, CA http://mojumbo.n3.net

Another guide could be gun jerk. you did have your actors jiggle the guns as they shot, didn't you? If you did, put a muzzle flash at the apex of every jerk. before the barrel goes up, put a flash, put one before it gets to the top of the jerk, then one at the top, one as the barrel comes down, one at the bottome, etc. It probably won't synch with technical specs, but it's hard to get an actor to jerk a gun 10 times per second. this will make it look like the recoil is reacting to actual gunfire. Of course, I like the above idea too. ------------------ Liquid courage is better than none at all.
