Not a popular effect here in the Lone Star State, but Snow is one of the more common atmospherics. Posted by ADOMizer on Friday, 28 November 1997, at 3:06 a.m., in response to SNOW, posted by Joshua Evans on Thursday, 27 November 1997, at 12:18 p.m. I'm posting this for anyone else who may be interested: t's a Wonderful Life used shaved ice and paintedcorn flakes. The Corn flakes make good "falling snow" and add a crunch to yor characters walking. For snow drifts you can try paper mache and painting it white. There's always the fake snow they use for models that you can find in any hobby shop now that Christmas is approaching and you can also find spray to "frost the windows". Good Luck, ADOM

I think this is where most of Mike's disposable income goes!Posted by Mike Walling on Sunday, 30 November 1997, at 1:34 a.m., in response to SNOW, posted by Joshua Evans on Thursday, 27 November 1997, at 12:18 p.m. Snow how much or how little? You can buy bags of inert polyethylene fiber from Tri-ess for $47.50 a bag and that will cover about 500 sq. ft. or if your looking for some snow on a mini set you can try grinding a PVC pipe down and use the shavings from that to make small snow. Don't need snow? Grab a bottle of Head&Shoulders and head for the hardware store. Here's an idea for rainmaking:Posted by Mike Walling on Sunday, 30 November 1997, at 1:21 a.m., in response to Heavy Rainsorm, posted by Aaron E. on Friday, 28 November 1997, at 1:04 p.m. Oh yes rain the effect that will eat up the water bill! Testing anyways. Unless you need a city block covered then this will work for you. Get a piece of 1/2" EMT conduit, next every 1/2" mark with a sharpee where your holes will be and make sure there in a straight line, next using a 1/8" or smaller drill bit, drill the holes you marked and cut the EMT to about 6' or 7' section and crimp one end of the pipe, next take a garden hose and cut off one end and connect to EMT using a hose clamp be sure you don't cut off the end needed to fit your water inlet. Next for support go to Radio Shack and get 2, 3' tri pod mounts and 6, 5' sections of steel mast, using the tri pods has a base place the joined two sections of mast into the tri pod and use has towers the other two sections of mast will be used for a cross support, next hose clamp your EMT to the cross support with the holes facing up and just alittle to the side of your actors you may have to tilt your rain bar to get a even flow of water, next let the water flow and you have rain. You will have to play around with this to get the best shot but I think this just might work for you. Mike (oh, Mike also reminds you to back-light your rain to get it to show up)
