Is there anyone on this board that have some experience using the "Soundblaster Live! Platinum" soundcard? How good is it? I'm thinking about it all: Midi, recording quality.....

Almost any sound card will give you fine recording quality. I still use cassettes and even THOSE sound pretty good. If it can record at least 44.1kHz (sample rate) then it'll sound great. I'm guessing that most newer sound cards can do 48kHz at most, so the card you're considering will most likely be more than sufficient. I have a Sound Blaster PCI128 (as I said in my other post) and the MIDI wavetable is OK.. not amazing, but it sounds pretty good for the most part. The SB Live Platinum may very likely have a better one, but I wouldn't know.

i don't have it, but my friend does, and he does a lot of sound recording and editing. i think the real benefit to the Live! Platinum is the MIDI box thing that goes in an open drive bay, for real easy input. as far as i know, he's real pleased with it.

My friend also has one and he said he likes it a lot. I also used one a couple of weeks this summer on my grandfathers comp and I think it's a nice board. I might buy one some day.
