Hey folks, I am SUPER interested in buying a shotgun mic now that I have some Christmas cash going, but Im alarmed by the differance of price for the AT835b. At this site- http://www.soundprofessionals.com/retailmics/audiotechnica/shotgun.html the AT835b is $239 At this site- http://www.fullcompass.com/catalog/fall2000/shotgunmics.html the At835b is $329 Whats the deal? Is it just an obvious misprint or something? What is the "correct" price for the mic usually? Thanks a lot -The Outcast

Full Compass usually only publishes the "list price" of items which is always way higher than what most people pay for them. Give them a call and ask about it.Isaiah ------------------ Isaiah, "Sound Guy" Eyre www.iEyre.com |

Hey thanks for the reply Isaiah! I was reading some older post and I'm not sure if it was your or Sarge who had some information on the differance between the AT835b and the AT815b? This is the last choice I need to make in microphone selection. Apparently, the AT815b has a closer range (8 feet) for recording subjects while the AT835b has a larger one (20 feet). Is the later a more specific, harder to use mic? And if so why is it considerably cheaper than the AT815b? Thanks A LOT!! -The Outcast------------------ "I dont care where I belong no more. I haven't had any experience with either one, so I couldn't tell ya. But I think that the 8 foot one sounded like a good idea. That would mean that its polar pattern is a little less tight (and I'm guessing that it has a shorter body as well).Isaiah ------------------ Isaiah, "Sound Guy" Eyre www.iEyre.com |

Hey Isaiah, Check out this specifications page for the AT835b- http://www.audio-technica.com/prodpro/profiles/AT835b.html and then this specification page for the AT815b- http://www.audio-technica.com/prodpro/profiles/AT815b.html Just from looking at the first page visually, it seems that the AT835b has the smaller range than the AT815b (Im looking at the Polar Pattern diagram). This would explain why the AT835b is cheaper... Am I right? Does the AT835b actually have the 8 foot range and the AT815b have a 20 foot range? Thanks a lot man, -The Outcast ------------------ "I dont care where I belong no more. What we share or not I will ignore, and I wont waste my time fitting in cuz' I dont think contrast is a sin." |
