I hooked a cd player(portable)up to my vcr with speaker cables. Then I started recording with a video playing(from my camcorder)but I could barely hear the music on playback, So I tried again without the audio from my camcoder. But then got no audio from the cam.

Stereo recievers have amplifier circuits so that the audio signal will drive the speakers and produce a higher volume of sound. CD players put out a low wattage signal suitable for small headsets. You can use your volume control on the stereo to boost the audio signal's power before sending the signal to the VCR. Take care, overdriving the sound will result in distortion. If the amplifier in your stereo is powerful enough, I imagine you could do damage to a VCR if it weren't able to handle the wattage of the sound signal input to it. What is your stereo reciever capable of out putting at maximum volume - 18 watts per channel, 50, 100, 200 watts? Different units vary. ------------------ Jeff F - Moderator Magic and FX Amazing the Masses |
