Got another one for y'all...Anyone know how to duplicate the "explosion ring" effect produced by the destruction of Alderaan and the Death Star in the Special Edition of Star Wars ? Thanks again !!! |

Yes thats real easy. In 3d studio or which ever program you have create a tear drop shape using splines. Then use the revolve command to create the ring. Next animate the ring from the smallest to off frame or how ever big you want it. Just apply the correct textures and give it the right opacity. If you go to the 3dcafe there are some really cool tutorials on how to make all kinds of explosions and stuff |

Not going into detail or anything, but even instead of using splines, you can simply create a very thin box which has many subdivisions, and then use the bend tool (in Lightwave at least), to form a ring. Bring it into Layout with the rest of your explosion, surface it appropriately, and BOOM! . Billy W |
