ok...i know everything about making the lightsaber effect in photoshop, which is the program im using. 2 questions come to mind. 1) i know u should use a dowel or other rod type refference point for a good effect and accurate collsion, but what about using those toy lightsabers with the cone-like glowing blades? since it is cone-shaped and not completely straight, will it throw off and distort the look of the blade when i have to paint everything over frame by frame? 2) assuming i use 1 minute of dueling footage, that works out to about 1800 frames altogether. for those of u who have done this before in photoshop, how long do u think it would take paint over 1 minute/1800 frames of video? (p.s....i only have one FULL day to really edit this) thanx guys[This message has been edited by sparkybus (edited 10-18-1999).] |

To answer your second question first. one day? would be better if you could post the number of hours you have at hand. but if you mean you have one day alone to make the saber effects you might make it, it all depends on how many HOURS you have at hand. but my guess is that such an effect needs about 2-3 days (8 hours a day) to be finished if you're a skilled computer artist and you only had about 1 minute of film to edit. and your first question.. i don't see a problem in using those saber instead, and if you want the sabers to show on film just paint the blade, if you have a dark background just paint them white and vice versa. I hope this helps or gives you some new ideas.------------------ Benny | |
