Hia all

I'm interested in making few special effects in my Star Wars movie. One is wound after a lightsabre cut... I suppose it sould be something like deep, burned wound :\ (mixed cut wound with burned skin), not a "clean one" like from a normal sword.

The second effect is "force throw". I want to throw a human on the ground, but first he should fly over 2 meters in air. In other scene he will be thrown, then fly, and then hit the tree with his back...

I wonder how to make those effects safe and realistic...

Greetings, and sorry for my english

In The Phantom Menace it appeared as though there were no "burns" after Qui Gon was stabbed. Methinks that a lightsaber wound would just slice and dice, I'm not sure though. Another example is in A New Hope when Obi Wan slices off that guys arm, again no burns.

All I can say Lukeskyw, is that you have the actor jump backwards onto some deep cushioned surface in front of a blue/green screen.

Aye,

in all Star Wars Epizodes there were no burned wounds. But imagine - the lightsabre is the blade of pure energy. In The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon melt the blast door with his lightsabre, so try to imagine wound caused by such weapon - it won't be only a "clean cut", it also should be burned. From medical point of view we can avoid blood (veins are closed and burned, so the blood won't be leaking). Of course if you cut someone's hand the wound will be "clean", like from the scalpel or laser, but if you cut someone on the chest or arm (not too deep) it will not be like a normal wound made with some sharp thing. I think, that good example would be if you put a hot steel wire into a piece of butter or plactic...

My target is to :

a) make a wounds look realistic
b) make a realistic looking scars after the lightsabre cut...

Greetings

Thanks Spock

The point is that I want to avoid bluescreen :\ but I'll try to arrange it...

Jumping actors won't look realistic :\ I thought about mounting some line with some belt, on the actor's, and then pull the line so strong, that it will look like he's hit with the Force...

Any other ideas ?

Thanks and greetings...

Be very careful when working with wires! There is a great chance someone will get hurt. That is all.
