Hi, I need some help on how to make the opening title sequence like in Star Wars.
I kind of know how to do it in Premiere but I need some help. Like making the text for the Star Wars logo and how to make the prologue go farther. I know how to make the prologue look like it's flat but what I don't know is how to make it go farther into the scene and then disappear. If anyone has any insight on this please help.

The only way I can think of is to make a regular scrolling text (make a title and then pan it upwards)in Premiere. Make sure you choose a background color than can be keyed out. The next step is to modify the shape of the clip so than it is thinner at the top (use distortion in the Motion window).

Now you can superimpose that over a starfield or anything else you want.

These guys made a wicked STARWARS version of Macbeth. They used very similar text to that of the STARWARS logo to display the title.
Go to their site they should have an email

should download the movie too its wicked.

Ok, I have done this before and its a piece of cake. Load truespace (2.0 works) and change to top view. Make horizontal text, of what you want it to say, then switch back to perspective view. Load a backround of stars (i have a cool one if you want it) and paint the text yellow. Add an infinate ligth and animate the text going away from the camera. It looks EXACTLY like it does in Starwars. As a matter of fact, I just used that techniuque on a friends project yesterday. If you don't have truespace, send me an e-mail and we can work something out.

You can also do it VERY well with After Effects. Just create your text object and import it as a picture. Make it's dimensions much bigger than those of what your final production will be (when you "make it 3D", you don't want to lose the edges). Then, bring that object in from a nested composition, and apply basic 3D to it. All that's left from there is to scroll it up.

If you want to get real fancy, you can apply a gradient blur to make the text blurred as it gets farther away. Let me know if you want more details. - Be careful with the blur though; for a two minute scroll the render times can be astronomical. On a P2 300 it took 54 hours. Although it is sort of fun to watch the text go up an eighth of an inch every hour or so, if possible you might want to find a more powerful machine.

Thanks for your insights. I think I figured it out on my Adobe Premiere but what I would like to know is how to speed up the text so that it isn't too slow. Do you know anything about this on Premiere?

Are you using motion to do it?

If you are, then just increase the duration that the object is "in" the video, and then make sure you move the last keyframe of the motion to as far as it will go (to the out point of the clip).

All times are ET (US)
