Hi, I need some advice on some effects in my movie. A few scenes call for a vampyre to be 'burnt' up by either being stabbed or hit by sunlight. Any suggestions? Also if any help could be offered on how to go about having a huge swarm of bats swoop down and around a building, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Lucid dreamer |

In "from dusk till dawn" they used CGI for the melting effects. I'm not really sure how and what they used though. I know for the exploding scenes the did, they used stop motion(if they didn't it can still be used). First they show a vampire get hit by light, then they cut to an exploding dummy. look closely and you will notice. |

I HAVE GROWN QUITE FOND OF FRAME BY FRAME ANIMATION.IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THIS TYPE OF SOFTWARE I FULLY RECOMMEND IT.GET OUT YOUR VIDEO CAMERA AND GRAB SOME FOOTAGE OF SOME BATS. BE IT AT THE ZOO , IN THE FIELD, OR WHEREVER. TRY TO GET RIGHT UNDER THEM (OR IT IF YOU CAN ONLY GET ONE) SO YOU CAN REALLY TELL WHAT IT IS. BREAK IT UP FRAME BY FRAME AND COPY THE BAT FROM THE DIFFERENT FRAMES INTO YOU R TARGET VIDEO. IF YOU LAYER THEM ENOUGH YOU SHOULD GET THAT SWARM EFFECT. BE PATIENT, THIS IS NOT A FIVE-SECOND EFFECT AND CONSTANTLY SAVE YOUR WORK AS YOU GO IN CASE YOU SCREW UP OR PROGRAM FREEZE OR WHATEVER.THE PAY-OFF SHOULD BE QUITE AWESOME. | |
