Okay, this one is weird. I'm working with someone who's filming a short, and one of the characters is supposed to have anime looking bangs hanging in his face. The problem: the character is being played by a guy with 1" hair. He needs to begin filming soon, and has asked me to come up with some way to "add" the longer bangs. Any ideas?

You can't just wig him?

Jekyll,

Passado is right on. Someone with 1" hair had to have longer hair? How to do that? Only one way I know of, add it with a wig. If he has 1" hair even adding hair in to his own by weaving or whatever, would not be effective - very littel to attach it to. It would look like a patch of hair growing longer than the rest of his 1" hair. Pretty bogus looking I'd say. Wig him - it's about the only way.

I considered a wig, but the hairstyle is an odd one. He needs to have real short hair, with the long bangs in front. Besides, the actor's going to be moving around rather energetically, and my freind is afraid a wig might come off.

Well Jekyll,

There are many inexpensive wigs to be had that given the right hair person - i.e. a good hair dresser - they can get that look through styling and/or cutting a cheap wig to accommodate the look you need. There is a good inexpensive wig company I deal with all the time in New York called Lacey Costume Wigs. They aren't on the Internet but if you want a catalog you can write for one or call and they will send you one. I have bought good wigs there that cost $75.00 and more but also some that are cheap - around $17 or $18 dollars that are quite usable. I'm at work so I don't have the address or the phone but if you want to E-Mail me direct I will have it for you tonight when I get home. Let me know. But I think you are forced into a wig because of the specific person they are using and the limitations of his own hair length. And if you have the budget for an inexpensive wig you ought to go that route. You may be able to find a local wig shop where you live. I live in a relatively small place and there is even one here. But I usually order all of mine from New York.

Good luck.
