Can you recommend the best stuff for making scars. I've heard of a chemical that will draw up the skin and make it look very believable in CU. None of us can remember the name of the chemical. (It was the stuff used to scar Tom Berenger's face in Platoon)

The liquid you are looking for is rigid collodian. It has an ether base I believe and when applied to the skin draws the skin as the ether evaporates out of it. The resulting effect is that the skin is drawn (quite tightly I may add) and has a slight shine where you apply it much like scarred flesh would look. This can be colored slightly for whatever you're doing or not. It looks effective without color but you have to be a little careful of the edges looking fake. This is a little hard on sensitive skin because it sticks quite well and is uncomfortable to wear depending upon how much you use and what part of the body you use it on and the flexibility (or not) of the skin in those areas. And it take acetone to get it off completely. You CAN peel it off somewhat but not all the way. Acetone can be hard on someone with sensitive skin to say nothing of allergic reactions to the chemicals in either the collodian or the acetone itself. BE CAREFUL!!

That chemical idea is good. I don't know what it's called or where you can get it, but I do know that if you use good latex and make up the scars will look good. The key to this is the make up. Find someone with experience in make up and have them help you. I used latex in a short film of my own. A friend of mine who works in theater did the make up and it looked REAL good.
