anyone know how to make (or get a fake) a syringe safe for filming? or how to accomplish multiple gunshots without doing it in editing? |

Try www.cole-parmer.com they are a labratories/scientific testing type supplier. All kinds of syringes, tubing, squirt bottles, valves, etc. They usually have pretty good prices on their expedable type stuff, cheap disposeable syringes with or without needles. You aren't going to use this for illicit purposes are you? ------------------ One day flatware will rule us all

no, i have a scene where the syringe is used to inject poison into the neck of a guy. i really dont want to make a latex neck and dont know how hard it would be to make a spring loaded needle. |

If you get one of the sample syringes without a needle in it and put a toothpick or something painted silver into the hole on the end, the "toothpick" would be pressed up into the body of the syringe if you pushed it against his neck. (try it on your hand first) As long as you don't push the plunger all the way down it should be OK. Another place to get a syringe would be a vetranarians (I spel gud) You shouldn't need a spring unless you plan on having the camera close up on the syringe as it is pulled out of the neck. If you had to you could attach the toothpick to the plunger so that when you pulled it away from the neck you could push the plunger all of the way out, sticking the toothpick back out.Remember pointy sticks and jugular's don't mix, so dull your toothpick. ------------------ One day flatware will rule us all

You could use the "pull gag" method for the multiple hits. I haven't used this method yet, so I can't tell you if it's good or not. I'll try to find the site that describes how to do this and post a link. ------------------ http://go.to/jacksloan "...Nothing really matters, Anyone can see, Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me..." You might be able to get away with a glue syringe from a craft/hobby store, depending on the design. I have seen some that look an awful lot like a hypo. While there, pick up some aluminum tubing, the smallest diameter they have. It looks enough like steel to use, is soft and easy to cut/work, and won't puncture your actor - in fact you may find it is a bit too flimsy to use with out reinforcing it. You could run stiff wire down the center of it or fill it with 5 minute epoxy to sstrengthen it if need be. ------------------ Jeff F - Magic and FX Amazing the Masses |

Try your local magic shop. You'll find a syringe with a needle that will collapse back into the syringe upon injection, and these often have fake blood being simulted to be injected or removed. Cost you about ten bucks. |
