Ok, this is one of, if not the greates movies I've ever seen. Every time its on tv I have to watch it, its a perfect movie (except those darn crickets at the end). And what suprises me is its lack of SFX, I meann its not like ID4 or anything like that yet its still amazing. When I watch it I can almost feel as if I were there, at the end I could almost feel the wind in my face and the sand on my feet. And the story aint that wow just an innoccent guy who is put in prison and escapes, but the way the movie tells the story is just amazing. Ok now to a question. How did they get that look? I cant describe it, is it the film look? The way every color in the scene go together perfectly, the suspenders on Red are the same color as the walls and the blue of the shirt goes with the color on the bars etc etc. Do you guys understand what I mean? Its just this realy awesome look if you know what I mean and know if it was an effects of a special lens, the kinda film or whatever please let me know. And if you have not seen the movie SEE IT!!! Check out the pic below I made it from the movie! ------------------ when life's tough or dull MAKE A MOVIE!! [This message has been edited by killer_epidemic (edited 04-12-99).] |

I've BEEN to shawshank!.....No, really, I have. Well I toured the place where they filmed the vast majority of it! Mansfield, Ohio is home to the old ohio state reformitory. Many films have been shot there over the years Like Tango and Cash and some of air force one. It's kinda cool when a hollywood production comes to your town. The Grifter....A fountain of useless information.------------------

I agree with you, Shawshank was a great film, amazing what a tiny hammer and a lot of patience can do. Great artwork btw.Grifter, I fell in love with Terry Hatcher in that film (Tango & Cash)...well, still am |

I've seen about an hour of it. I wanna see the whole thing soon. Okay, this doesn't have anything to do with The Shawshank Redemption, but what the hell does "btw" mean? It's something I see in these boards often. Does it stand for something? ------------------ movies wouldn't be movies without the SPECIAL EFFECTS!

Right on. That film is a great film and I'm glad to hear someone on a SPFX forum say it. Now I don't know how the film makers made such a great visual experience, but I am willing to chalk it up to experience and mastery of craft- the likes of which I may not know in this lifetime.Great story, great shooting, great acting. BTW, don't you hate it when people use acronyms you don't understand? (Context clues) ------------------ Another quality NIKE comment

Props and costumes are all perfectly matched and colored on sets to give that look. I've been on location were the art director dyed the grass in the backyard of a house a "perfect green" for the shot. You do what ever it takes. Mike

Dyed the grass? Talk about disposible income! Where can I find this person, they need a reality check! Has it occured to ya'll that the appearance of the word "Member" under your name carries a double meaning. (Ohhhh, I should not have typed that!) ------------------ Another quality NIKE comment
