I bought replica mp5, and need to find some way to make a muzzle flash so it looks like the gun in firing in rapid form. I have heard of using stob light, or something of the nature but I was wondering if anyone had tested anythingthat they knew to work well. The point is that it has to be silent, that is the only way that I can film in public with the permission of the local police.-thanks- |

ive shot an mp5, and from what i remember there was little if any muzzle flash, maybe it was the ammo or the gun. you may be able to add them in using a program like premiere after you film it. thats assuming you have access to a capture card and the program, if you do you could add in the audio too t |

I have my doubts on the strobe lite idea. For one, you would only see it if the camera is looking straight down the barrel. And how would one get the light INTO the barrel in the first place? The smallest strobe I have seen is a battery operated one made for Air Force survival vests. The only guns that give off such a big flash are movie guns anyway (unless your using some of that crap Norinco ammo, that stuff spits out fire from the ejection port and every which way). I think that your best bet is some post-production computer effect. I would suggest going to a local college or computer club and seeing if anyone might want to help you along with the project. That way you won't have to spend a lot on some hardware. ------------------ Another quality NIKE comment

This is a Magic Supply Company....try them, they have some Flash cotton stuff that can be inserted into a gun barrel. You can only do 1 shot per take, but it produces a pretty good Flash effect. Fairly safe too. You can get all kinds of other great effects ideas for action flicks when you search the site.http://www.theatrefx.com Jason. ------------------ www.UnknownProductions.com

The best way to do this would be to load the clip in premiere, then export it as a filmstrip file. Load it in photoshop and draw mussleflashes on every two frames or so. Experiement around with the shape and size of the flash. It looks great.-Taylor |
