I have a scene in my script where a guy is shot point blank to the face with a silenced .45. First of all, where could I get a prop that looks realistic, and how could I get that sound a silencer makes? Thanks------------------ Check out my webpage! A "prop" silencers could be lathed out of wood or made from empty plastic pill bottles. The mob (in real life) sometime uses a "oil filter" and after usage, they disposed of it. Please don't have a scene with the killer "screwing" the silencer to the tip of the gun...screw to what? Guns don't have threading on the tips, or can you they "plug" it inside the barrel, upon fireing the gun, it will explode in your face. You can take the advantage of your prop silencer "container" to hide a small explosive device filled with fake blood, but be real careful with any explosive devices. |

I just occurred to me that you'll be using a 45, the "recoil" action would prevent the shooter to use the standard silencer, a rolled up sweater would do the trick, as a pillow. |

Hmm...I guess I have my guns mixed up. I meant a 9mm handgun. But thanks for the construction tips! You wouldn't happen to know how to get that special sound they make would you? |

Some quick points:Yes, you can get after market barrels that are longer and externaly threaded to accept a silencer. Slide-action semi-autos can be fitted with silencers. The US army experimented with silenced .45 autos in Vietnam, for tunnel rat operations. Not all silencers "screw" on. Some are simply twisted on over the front sight blade. Depends on the weapon. There are even barrels with integrated silencers. Check them out at the library. I recommend one of those books on WWII spys. Neat stuff. Just thought some back ground info would help. ------------------ Another quality NIKE comment

Wow, thanks for the background info..I mean really. I think all the information I know on guns was learned from John Woo movies. Time to hit the books.------------------ Check out my webpage! Its about stuff and things! http://welcome.to/mcgonzos |
