I bought the sime editmaster plus a while ago and am only now realizing that I need the sfx-m. since I am and idoit I lost the receipt I can't get my money back. what I need the sfx-m for if mainly chroma keying and it has tons of other cool features. if anyone knows ANYWHERE I can get an editor with chroma keying PLEASE tell me. if anyone knows anything specificaly for chroma keying please tell me. also I want the feature dissolve. if anyone knows where I can get that please tell me. I'd rather have the chroma key more though so that first. I don't know much about chroma keying anyway so please help. if anyone knows anything PLEASE tell me and give me a price range of how much they are. thanks.

I use to own the Videonics MX-1 mixer, and used it to chroma key. It pretty much sucked, but what the hell....it put two images together (very rough on the edges).

If I was you, I'd do whatever I could to get into non linear editing, and leave those crappy stand-alone systems behing. Get yourself a DV camcorder, After FX with Ultimatte, and some Digital Key Blue Spandex blue or green screen material from Rose Brand products, and you've got a composting system on par with the pros (provided your good with your lighting, of course)!

Good luck!

how rough around the edges? I have a really cheap budget and I don't wanna spend money on a new camcorder or anything expensive. I just want the thing to come out decently.

well, I suppose it matched the rest of my production value, which was zero, so it didn't matter. I wouldn't use if for any professional work, however, since the compositing stands out like a sore thumb (It's pretty bad around the edges of the foreground character....on a jagged scale, I'd give it a 7 out of 10, with 10 being the worst).

What you might try (and what I've done in the past) is to get others involved with your projects who have the equipment you're looking for. It's trying without buying, and many people like to get involved in productions. Beware of the flake factor, as you might already know.

Try user groups, or take a multimedia class at your community college, or put an add in the paper.

Good luck!
