Topic: slow-motion on camera or adobe

is it better to film something in slow motion or to do it by adobe premiere? can i film something in normal speed and then slow it down, still making it look good by premiere. Will it look rediculous? also, is it possible to change the film speed in the middle of the shooting? If my camera does not go slow enough and i want it at like 300 frames per second, if i slow it down by prmeiere will it have the same look as by camera?

Shooting with film at a faster pace will give you better results because you are getting more information while its moving. Premiere just plays back slower so you still have those 30 frames a second, only slower. for small changes in speed this is OK but at 300 fps your getting just 3 frames a second which will look terrible. if you did shoot at your maxiumum fps and slowed it down more in premiere that should work, although I 've never seen it done.------------------

I have the same problem. If their is a way of capturing at a higher rate you could capture the video live (streaming) at any speed you want. |

Ok maybe I am confused...but I have a few questions and a few answers;
First, amittman are you shooting on video or film???? If video you can't do any better that 30fps. VIDEO CAN NOT DO FASTER. however, you can increase the shutter speed and take away some motion blur and make the slow motion look better.If you are using film you can and should shoot at a faster frame rate. 300fps would look great!!!! because it would be played back at 30fps into your computer ( or whatever ) EVEN if you shot it at 60fps it would look good. OF Course it depends on what you are shooting....ie. someone running would take forever but lightning would kick ass. Remember showing it down in premere is only keeping each frame on screen longer...filming at a different speed is actually more pictures...more info= better slow-mo |
