Not if you get a permit, ask the minister politely and as someone else said a while ago in the forum "Charm the socks of him" it usually works if you are polite and friendly, it did for me ------------------ .Benny. .CGI & Film Director. .Taurus Filmproductions. http://taurusfilmprod.hollywood.com/ Email me: C_Keeper@hotmail.com [This message has been edited by Benny (edited 05-29-2000).] |

If you do not have family buried there probably not. If it has a big wall or iron fence and a security guard at night, probably not. You can chance guerilla filming. If you can find out who the caretakers are and try to get permission, then you don't have to worry. I tried at a graveyard in Houston once and they wanted to get a release from each family's grave stones that would be in the shot. I ended up doing it guerilla style. If you do it anyway please have respect for the property. If you have a film comission in your town call them up and ask for help. They usually don't help and are all political bastards but it's worth a try. |

Shot a commercial in a graveyard once... just contacted the caretaker, and only shot the backs of the stones, showing no names... good luck.------------------ "Madness takes it's toll... please have exact change." |

Yeah I just need i shot of my actor walking down the "road", for a sad scene after some one died.I wont to try this: the first actor is walking then stops. <camera stops & actor stays still> actor2 comes in. (crossfade) actor1 looks at actor2 then <camera stops & actor stays still> actor2 leaves then (crossfade) So it looks like the second actor apperaed and disapperad/

Um...Seems a little disrespectful, but I wouldn't exactly say it's evil. You could always build a fake one. (i.e. plan 9 from outer space!) LOL "Sorta spookylike!"Isaiah ------------------ Hilarem datorem diligit Deus |

I need a graveyard scene in my film too. Since I was afraid that it would br too disrespectful to be making entertainment out of the headstones of other people I decided to make my own gravestone from foam and paint for my closeups. Shoot some long or extreme long establishing shots of the graveyards, as no to show the names on the graves. I think you shouldnt have any problems.------------------ Chris Penney http://chrispenney.bizland.com/ |

Stuntman is right. It is illegal (in Canada, anyway) to shoot the fronts of headstones, but you can always shoot the backs... with permission. You can cheat the fronts with editing and well painted styrofoam tombstones.------------------ Primitive Pictures Indie Film North |

Have respect for the dead! Do as little taping as possable at the cemitary, do the rest by creating a cemitary in a feild or something. E.G. My movie involves a girl walking into the graveyard and awakeing 3 dead guys. However all she will do is walk into the grave yard, then she will be at a fake one. When the dead rise they will walk out of the real grave yard. Get it? |

I did it for a do***entary I'm filming. The caretaker came over while we were filming and said to just make sure that none of the headstone names are shown in the final film. |

I would not want to film in a cemetery any ways (they give me the creeps, especially at night). But I know you can get some fake foam headstones in Halloween stores. I bought one a long time ago and it looks pretty real. All you need to do is stick a couple of the head stones in the ground and wala, a graveyard. ------------------ "I make a film like I cook for friends. its blocked out because it contains the letters c-u-m, which, when put together is a derogative term. i personnally think the filter is a little to sensative. i mean we cant post words like cir***stances, do***entary, cir***navigate, and etc...------------------ I was normal once..... hey, why not look for a monument company, sometimes they have them set up outside, it might not be perfect, but i'm sure they'd let you film there. may be something to look into. later Tom
