Thought I might show you this simple FX, which can be used to remove any part of an actor's anatomy(the head here). It's very simple to do with After Effects and a moving mask.
You need toi film a clean background plate (i.e. without the actor). You also need to use a background set that will "hide" the edges of the mask. Here I positionned the actor in front of a closet. The mask is limited by the edge of the closet on the top, right and left. The bottom part of the mask follows the shoulders and neck of the actor, i.e. as the actor goes down, the bottom part of the mask goes down.

Don't mind the fake looking CGI blood, I added it for fun
. This is only an test fx shot after all. The final shot will have actual blood being pumped into the background.
