I was interested in the fisheye effect. If you dont know what I mean, its when everything seems bent in a circle, Its used in rap videos often. Does anyone have a low budget solution for this effect?

Don't know how cheap you can get lenses.
Maybe someone knows where you can hire them but the easiest solution would be using a fish eye lens to film.

You can buy lenses that can do it. Otherwise you can fake it with a filter in MediaStudio Pro or whatever it is you use.

You can either buy a lense, apply a filter in an program or a real cheap way of doing it is hold a magnifying glass up to the front of your camera. I've seen this done on a couple of skateboarding videos, they pulled the magnifying glass away so you could see that is what they were using. You'll probably have to look around and find one that will give you the effect you want. Hope this helps you out.

The CHEAPEST way to do it would be to go down to your local hardware store and find one of those peep holes that you put on your front door. They're not that expencive, I've seen many for under $10. Try to find the one with the largest diameter and widest range of field. (That way, you'll get the most usable picture area.) Then, mount it on a piece of plywood large enough to cover your lens. Voila, an ultra cheap fisheye lens. I've shot fisheye footage this way and although the resolution isn't the greatest, it does create a powerful, usage fisheye effect. Hope this helps.

If you have AE just use DISTORT>BULGE and make your bulge radius larger than the frame, or else:

You would need a step up ring for your camcorder, but still would work.

You can buy a fish eye lens for 150 bucks. They kick ass by the way, my friend has one for making skate videos.

Just like on the cable guy when he's looking thru the peep hole and it's all curved.

Actually, in the skate videos, they don't use a magnifying lens. They just unscrew the lens out a bit so you can see the edges. Fisheyes rule, cause I skate, and skating rules, and I'll just stop blabberin on...

Real lenses are expensive! Buy one of those that you put where you put your kamerafilters. They are much cheaper!

I know that they don't use a magnifying glass in all or even many skate videos. If you've seen CKY then you know that they used one for at least some of the shots. Just about every company that makes a video can probably afford the actual lense... The magnifying glass trick is'nt perfect but you might be able to get what you need with it.
