I have two shots of myself at the exact same locaiton, they are shot on a tripod so the background remains constant. I use Adobe Premier, and I know I hate to ask questions like this, but I've tried all the trancperencys, and i cant get it right. How could I make it so both of myselves appear in the same shot? I assume it is a tranceperency, but i just cant find it. Please help =) thanks

Alright,

I hope you are starting from scratch, and not trying to use existing footage. The absolute most important/time saving thing you can do is plan and shoot your shots correctly. I did not do that in the previous clip, and it was a royal pain in the arse to fix.

If you are usinging a camcorder (I assume you are no shooting film) you need to turm auto exposure OFF and set your exposure manually. Even if your lighting is perfect and consistant your camera will make little adjustments here and there which will inturn cause you to have a VERY visable line going down the screen where you are splitting it.

Like I said, I didn't do this right in that clip, granted I still fixed it, but getting the footage right the first time would have saved me alot of time doing brightness correction in post. So Remember set your exposure MANUALLY!!

You had the right idea in using transperancies, over lap your clips (one in VID1, one in VID2) But then, go into VIDEO>TRANSERANCY and select NONE. next move your veritices to split the screen however you desire (horizontal/verticle/diagnal).

That's it. Pretty dang simple eh?

I was actually hoping of having two or three people walk by each other. what i need is a transperency that will eliminate all of the parts that are the same, but will leave the parts that look different, so i can have myself walking by myself.

Unless you want the other "yous" to be translucent "ghosts" you are going to have a VERY hard time doing this. It can be done, but you are talking e.g. multiplicity, but that would require a combo of bluescreening and cgi compositing. Or multiple splitscreens and masking. if you want a bunch of ghost chasing each other around it should be pretty easy though. Just set each clip in a different tansper. layer and set the opacity to 60% or so on all, similar effect to where he is riding his bike around in circles in Frequency.

Go to www.angelfire.com/movies/nobudgetsfx/splitscreen.html

I think that's it. E-mail me if it doesn't work.
