Hey guys, Ive managed to make a cool effect which I am not sure if it has been done before or not.I film a 100% medium closeupof my actors whole body with extra special care to not have the camera move or the actors feet move either. I next make him/her move about in all sortsof directions without moving his feet. I capture that in Premiere, and export 1 or 2 seconds as a targa sequence. I import the targa sequence back into Premiere but when putting them back on the timeline, I put them in a random order. On playback it gives a very cool effect of theactor being able to do a rapid un-natural monsterish movement. Add a bit of motion blur and a nice story to fit it in and some decent lighting and voila. |

Um, do you mean like stop-motion? I'm still trying to understand how you get your actor to move around with their feet moving...it's magic!Isaiah |

No, the actor doesnt move. The result is the actors movment being completely weird and not natural |

This sounds like a very cool effect. You should make a tutorial with screen captures and everything to make it more clear. Also please post a link so i can download the video to more clearly see the outcome of the effect, Thank you Noah |

No, it would probably look bad for a long time.It looks best for me in semi low light while character is doing a natural walk thens tops and yous see the weird shaking effect i described above for a brief moment and then keeps walking afterwards. I've got other cool things like that i've mucked around with ill post i other posts.

Hi, I had posted how to do something similar about a week ago. It was something on how to make view of someone look dizzy. If it is still there, it is a little more precice tutorial. (I hope this is the effect you are thinking of. if not, sorry). |

Here is an example of what I was thinking of. It isn't really great but just shows the infinite possibilities members.xoom.com/jeeroome/matrix.mpg What do you think? |

Jeerome, that shot is CREEPY! It looks like that actor is all over the place! It reminds me a bit of an effect I used in a recent experimental short. My effect was created by using multiple clips of the same person on top of each other: http://jove.prohosting.com/~raoul23/head.avi And while you're at it, have you seen my CGI stabbing effect (shameless plug)? http://jove.prohosting.com/~raoul23/stab.avi |

Jeeroome, the guy in your clip that's being slugged doesn't seem to mind it very much. Isaiah |

To get the second guy to react to the punches and not look like hes a speed freak too you would need to have them shot seperately, the puncher ona bluescreen and the second guy and background together on a seperate shot and then key over.

If I were to do this with larger movements would it look like something from the matrix? like super fast movement? because the clips that i saw that were posted under this subject just looked like someone screwed up while shooting it. |

BLARG! it has been done many times, actually. i was just about to do it in about a day. Watch The X-Files. in the season finale Scully walks into some sort of energy forcefield and flys up in the air and does the blurry wiggly thing. i figure they just had her jump, took a frame, jumped again in a different pose, took a frame ect. then morphed them together really fast. super fly.pTgR ------------------ "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats." Jacob's Ladder also did this before Matrix and X-Files. The "demons" shook their heads around like that. Now that was creepy. |
