Ok yall. Hows everyone doin. I am a 16 year old dude that has a goal to make a really good star wars video with only a VHS recorder. I am very new to all of this so translate all the high-tech stuff into regular language. I also need to know how to make audio and special effects with what i got. Thanks everyone. Any help would be great!

Assuming the archives are still up, my best bit of help will be to suggest you search them. Star Wars is a subject as you can imagine that people have talked alot about and created test footage of, etc... There's a wealth of information out there for the taking and it's a search away. Good luck!

Star Wars video? Is there a reason you want to make a Star Wars video?

I'm not trying to insult you, but why don't you try something original, first off. Second figure out what you WANT to do. Then ask how to pull it off.

But if you want some help with stuff you have to provie sommore info. Like, what is your budget?

Once you get and idea of what you want to do, I know I'll be happy to help you out.

Have fun trying to make a movie like you want with what you have. ALL you have is th VHS camera? No editing capabilities? Do you even have 2 VCRS to edit like that?
Lasers and lightsabers need a computer (unless your shooting on 16, and your not, and you know how to rotoscop onto 16, which you dont). Sound Effects could be done, in an ok manner, with a 40 sound mixer that can be bought at Best Buy, etc.
So why not start out making a LOW budget low budget movie. Like get some friends and make a movie, not a star wars type thing. That takes costumes, computers, etc.

Please understand where I am coming from in answering you. I am NOT slamming or flaming. I'm trying to help you get an answer to your question.
But, until you have a better idea of what you want to do, and specific questions about how to achieve specific results, this is kind of an impossible question to answer. You really should do some research on your own, learn the technical terms so that you will understand things better, and come up with a plan of how you intend to shoot a particular and well-thought-out story.
THEN, this board and the people on it will prove to be a very valuable resource. There is a lot of talent, ambition and enthusiasm (like yours) here. But you have to make an effort to answer your own questions, or at least, learn enough to ask the right questions, before any help we give you, will be of benefit.
In the meantime, keep reading on the board. You can glean a lot from the questions that are answered on the board alreaady.
