Alright, I gotta little question.

I've been wanting to make this movie for quite some time, and I've been debating this in my head forever.

In a movie I'm making, I need to have a character of a bicycle jump over a creek.

After I saw MI:2 (Which I didn't like by the way) and how they did some of the stunts, I got some new ideas.

Anyway, here's what I was thinking:
I could use wirework.
PROS: Might look cool.
CONS: Dangerous, hard to do, and we can't talk about it on here anyway.

I could built a little bridge, paint it green, and green screen in the creek.
PROS: May work, and look real if I arched it right.
CONS: I want this to be a dynamic, moving shot, and that would make it hard to bluescreen. Also, the creek flows weird, and might not match up.

I could just completely greenscreen it.
PROS: Might look cool, most UNDANGEROUS way.
CONS: The camera needs to be moving!!!

Of course, I could always set up a ramp and have him jump it, but that wouldn't be very smart, would it?

Anyway, thanks to all who reply.

Could you elaborate a little more on the setup, execution, and what transpires after this stunt?

I saw a post about jumping over buildings on here not too long ago.

You could apply the same principals as discussed witht he greenscreening etc on there to what you wish to do.

Being impressed by the stunts in MI2 is OK. Trying to duplicate them isn't. I know David Wu, who used to be John Woo's editor. Some of the early John Woo stuff took professionals hundreds of man-hours just to set up. And even then, they occasionally got hurt.
Having said that...
If you can green screen, you have a world of options. Try this...
Shoot your green screen with a careful eye to the moves you make. Replicate the camera moves as closely as you can on location. Most people won't notice slight mis-alignment problems of a bicycle in flight in a fast-paced action shot.

One thing to keep in mind when doing stunts is that if your actors are not used to performing stunts in their spare time they won't be able to rise to the occasion just because they have a video camera staring at em. I can do it cause that's just how I am. The other day I was pissed cause this guy cut me in line at McDonalds so I ran up and did this bycycle kick hurtling him into a rack of Dinosaur toys. He learned to show some manners in the future and that not everything disney is soft and cuddly. So yeah, for me stunts like that are no sweat. But before I entered the 36th chamber I had to make action movies, right? How did I do it, you ask? Well first off I set up shots and created action thatw ere visually exciting but not beyond the means of the average puny human. Such as a slow motion leap of desperation while firing guns with both hands (onto a matress off camera) or one of those cool ballet like spins with guns that John Woo seems to have mastered.

When you can snatch the coin from Masta' Pos hand and leave the dojo you can try a Bicycle kick, until then try a sweep kick maybe?

Revolvo Spinz: It's just a young boy on a bicycle, (petals) running from a bunch of Men in Black. He rides up to this small creek and jumps it. (Its pretty small, the bad guys jump it too--On foot) As he's jumping, it's a BOOM shot combined with a DOLLY shot back away from him as he flies over this thing, than petals away to do other cool stuff, which won't be a problem

Sarge: Just to let you know, the only reason I mentioned MI:2 is because of the motorcycle scene. When Tom Cruise jumps over the iron gate near the end, you see him waver like he's on a wire, so that just gave me a few new ideas. Sorry if I implied something weird. (Not sarcasm, truly sorry.)

ALso, I actually mean a Bicycle stunt, not a Bicycle kick like in MI:2. I didn't even like the flick

Cool, no problem. Stunts are a bitch. I have a good friend who's a coordinator, has done major flix. She got caught by a short circuit during a fire gag, and a five pound gas bomb blew up within a few feet of her. Her hair has grown back, and the swelling has gone down. She doesn't do fire gags anymore.

Sarge - you know David Wu?
I can not tell you how cool that is.

Any chance of getting him to offer up some editing tips that you could post here?

Sure. BTW, he's in France right now. He's coming back to direct several more episodes of the series I work for, and I'll see if I can get him to open the Magic Bag for some tips.
