foamcore is an awesome product, however there are a few types I believe,
the shiny ones and the matte ones.

Get the non shiny ones in my opinion as they will not glare on filming.

Foamcore is the absolute salvation of low-budget (and some bigger budget) films. Use a flat white 4x8 sheet (you can tape two together for an 8x8 sheet) and project away.
Use gaffer tape on the BACK side of the screen. It will hold well enough that you don't need to tape the face. For a very sturdy screen, you can tape foamcore strips along the seam and top and bottom edges.

what are you going to be projecting...film, video, slides.... the smaller the image you are projecting the brighter it will be... think about using multiple projectors going at once...

if you know anything about front screen projection you may want to try using reflective road sign film... can increase the brightness... but you have to have the camera, projector, and a piece of glass all lined up just right

Are you talking about a liquid light show... different colored liquids sloshed around on glass dishes on top of an overhead projector

well im going to projecting live video feeds as well as videos ive already taped at import car races at an import car showoff but since ive already rented the projector that day i thought it would be alright to shoot part of a music video im already working on. the import show will have kinda low lighting because its a night time theme with full intellegent lighting going around the arenas. I was wondering how many lumens would be enough for the projector? and im using a video projector not an overhead projector

video projectors are usually pretty dim... gonna have to watch how much light falls on the screen and make sure your foreground elements aren't overly bright.... I assume you are shooting video... your camera will probably be able top compensate for dimness of the scene

I just got done with a shoot on Memorial Day using a 2100 lumens projector on a 14 X 18 Ft. rear projection screen. The room was well lit most of the time. If your shooting a night seen then 1100 lumens would work fine if your within 15 metters of your screen. My suggestion would be to use a Higher Lumens and enter the footage in post using after effects. but the first method will work fine.
