I will be making a lot of elaborate camera movements and angles in my film. I need to know how I can move sideways in the woods with a camera and not make any noise. I have an 8mm RCA camcorder and NO sound editing equipment, so how do I do it. I also need a high ariel shot of a field. HELP ME, PLEASE.

Those game fishing rods would be kinda cool, you can control the height of the camera with the line, and the direction from a second pole screwed in underneath the cam.

If yer gonna do that, put some sort of padding under the camera in case it takes a fall.

I once did a tracking shot like you describe. I did it by filming from a car using the longer end of the lens to film the actors running in the forest which the road was along side of.

Just how high did you want to go with your other shot?

No noise in the woods? My advice is to clear a path and build a track & dolly. I can't think of any other effective way to do it, except maybe to get a glidecam/steadicam and have your mic boom operator far enough away from where you are so that the noise cannot be heard.

A dolly is definately the way you need to go. I have built a dolly myself and it only cost me around $150. It has a 3/4 plwood base, rolls on 8 2.5 inch roller skate wheels with internal bearings, and ride on 2" PVC pipes. It is super smooth, very sturdy, and absolutely noiseless. If you would like the plans, email me at Movieman21@earthlink.net. Good luck.
