Okay, I am looking at buying a new camcorder and I want to go DV. I can't afford and won't be able to afford the GL1 or the XL1 or that fancy JVC one either. I was looking at some cameras trying to get the lowest price when I found the Cannon ZR series. It looks pretty "spiffy." It has firewire support, records digital sound, miniDV format... ...How come it's sooo much cheaper than traditional DV or miniDV cameras? At 500.00 bucks, it cuts the competition almost in half! What are the qualities it is lacking from the larger models? Thanks, Mark |

could be a whole lot of things, from the shutter speed abilities, to the number of CCDs it has to the quality of the parts, the features on the camera etc |

My guess is that is does not have as many CCDs. The fancy ones have three, which gives you maximally accurate color and picture quality. Still, Canon doesn't make junk. If it's in your budget, I say give it a try!Isaiah |

The ZR is a dicontinued low end consumer vid camera. Not worth the money, drop the extra $200 and go the next model up.------------------ Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most. -Ozzy Osborne (via Hackers) |

So your saying I should go with something that cost like 1000.00? I still can't afford any GL1's (man I'd like to have one) I'll check ebay etc. for one, but they are usually still too high. Any suggestions for GOOD DV or miniDV cameras BELOW 1000.00? Also about the 3 CCD chips, the only ones I can think of with those are over 1000.00 correct me if I'm wrong. I was just checking out more canons, what about the canon vistua looks neat...Thanks, Mark [This message has been edited by moviedirector (edited 06-03-2000).] [This message has been edited by moviedirector (edited 06-03-2000).] |
